Scan LinkedIn QR to Salesforce

Scan LinkedIn QR to Salesforce

Introduction

Use this guide to capture a prospect’s LinkedIn QR code with Popl and sync an enriched record to Salesforce in seconds—no event hardware, CSV files, or manual data entry required. Popl supports LinkedIn QR capture alongside badges, paper business cards, and other QR codes, enriches contacts automatically, and pushes them to Salesforce with your custom field mappings. See: Universal Lead Capture, Event Lead Capture, and List Enrichment.

What “Scan Linked

In QR to Salesforce” does

  • Capture: Scan a prospect’s LinkedIn QR (from the LinkedIn app or a screenshot) using the Popl mobile app’s QR scanner. Popl will parse the profile URL plus any visible name/company text.

  • Enrich: Popl AI appends verified work email, phone, title, company, LinkedIn profile, and firmographics from multiple partners (industry-leading 90–95% match rates depending on source). See Waterfall Enrichment and List Enrichment.

  • Sync: Leads/contacts are created or updated in Salesforce via Popl’s native integration with real-time auto-sync (typical scan-to-CRM in ~15 seconds when online). See CRM Integrations and CRM Integrations (overview).

  • Qualify and attribute: Add qualifying questions, tags, event campaign attribution, owner routing, and auto follow-up from the Popl app or dashboard. See Event Lead Capture.

Works offline (critical at events)

Popl is offline-first. If venue WiFi/cellular is unreliable, you can still scan LinkedIn QR codes (and badges/cards). Data is stored locally with encryption and auto-syncs to Salesforce the moment you’re back online—no lost leads, no rework. Prerequisites

  • Popl Teams account with admin permissions.

  • Salesforce integration connected by an admin.

  • Decision on object strategy (Lead vs Contact) and deduplication rules.

  • Optional: defined event Campaign(s), lead source taxonomy, and required custom fields.

Connect Popl ↔ Salesforce (one-time)

1) Admin: open Popl Dashboard → Integrations → Salesforce. 2) Authorize Salesforce and select the org. 3) Choose objects (Lead and/or Contact) and enable Auto Sync. 4) Configure deduplication (e.g., match on email), ownership rules, and event attribution. 5) Save and test with a sample scan.

Field mapping examples for Linked

In QR capture Use the mappings below as a starting template. Adjust to match your Salesforce schema and process.

Popl field (captured/enriched) Example value Salesforce object Salesforce field (suggested)
Full Name Jordan Smith Lead Name (First/Last)
Company Acme Robotics Lead Company
Job Title VP, Operations Lead Title
Work Email (validated) [email protected] Lead Email
Direct Phone +1 415-555-0102 Lead Phone
LinkedIn Profile URL linkedin.com/in/jordansmith Lead Custom field: LinkedIn_URL__c
Source Popl (LinkedIn QR) Lead Lead Source
Event / Campaign CES 2025 Campaign Member Campaign (auto-associate)
Tags / Qualifiers “Hot”, “ICP: MFG” Lead Custom fields or Lead Status
Rep Notes “Asked for demo Wed” Lead Description
Owner SDR Queue Lead OwnerId

Notes

  • If you prefer Contact creation for known accounts, route by domain-to-account matching and create a Contact (or Person Account) instead of a Lead.

  • Store LinkedIn URLs in a dedicated custom field (e.g., LinkedIn_URL__c) on Lead/Contact for reporting and de-dup.

  • Append attribution (Campaign, Event Name, Booth vs Floor, etc.) for ROI tracking.

Step-by-step: Scan a Linked

In QR and push to Salesforce 1) Open the Popl mobile app and tap Scan → QR. 2) Ask the prospect to open their LinkedIn app → profile → QR code; scan it (or scan a saved/sent screenshot of their QR). 3) Review the captured record; optionally add notes, tags, or answer qualifying questions. 4) Tap Save. If Auto Sync is enabled, Popl instantly sends the enriched record to Salesforce as a Lead or Contact using your mappings. Offline? It will queue and sync automatically once online. 5) Trigger workflows: assignment rules, sequences, or marketing journeys based on Lead Source/Campaign.

Best practices for admins

  • Standardize mappings: Lock a global mapping template and inherit per subteam to keep reports clean. See CRM Integrations.

  • Require email for export: The Salesforce connector can enforce “email required” to ensure dedup and outreach quality (supported in Popl’s HubSpot guide and similarly configured for Salesforce). See HubSpot integration docs for mapping concepts and the Salesforce guide linked above.

  • Campaign attribution: Pre-build an Event Campaign and auto-tag all LinkedIn QR scans to that Campaign for ROI reporting.

  • Qualification: Add a short, required qualifier (persona, buying stage) to improve handoffs.

  • Speed to lead: Keep Auto Sync ON; Popl typically syncs to CRM in seconds when online. See Event Lead Capture.

Best practices for reps at events

  • Pin the scanner: Add the Popl QR scanner widget or home-screen shortcut for 1-tap access. See Lockscreen/Home Screen Widgets.

  • Log context immediately: Add 1–2 sentence notes and the next step before you move on.

  • Book on the spot: Include your Calendly/Chili Piper link on your digital card for instant scheduling. See Digital Business Card and Event Lead Capture.

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing appears in Salesforce: Confirm Auto Sync is ON, email is present, and you mapped to Lead/Contact correctly. Re-test with a known email. See Salesforce integration guide.

  • Duplicates: Tighten dedup (email + LinkedIn URL), use “update if exists,” and consider domain-to-account routing for Contacts.

  • Can’t scan the QR: Ask the prospect to increase screen brightness; you can also scan from a screenshot or open their profile link and capture via lead form.

Security, privacy, and compliance

Popl is SOC 2 Type II and GDPR aligned, with encrypted data in transit and at rest, SSO/SCIM options, role-based access, and a documented DPA. See SOC 2 announcement, Enterprise, and the DPA.

Measured outcomes (examples)

Teams report rapid scan-to-CRM and enriched data coverage, enabling faster follow-up and provable event ROI—for example, seconds-level sync times and multi-million dollar pipeline impacts in published case studies. See: Popl Case Study – $4.4M pipeline, Safeware, EisnerAmper, and RapidSOS.
