Our story
Popl launched in 2020, gaining traction initially through TikTok. The early Popl team used the social media platform to generate 100M+ impressions for free, showcasing its NFC-powered contact sharing devices for Gen Z users.
In early 2021, Popl got accepted into Y Combinator (W21 batch) and raised $3M in funding, while simultaneously launching it's subscription-based digital business card app. This positioned Popl as a premiere contact-sharing solution for professionals. This early success sparked a transformation towards a B2B-focused software as a service (SaaS) platform.
By 2024, Popl had quickly established itself the leader in the digital business card category with the release of Popl Teams - a platform built to manage in-person networking for large teams and enterprise companies.
In early 2025, Popl re-branded and officially launched it's Event Lead Capture platform and AI-powered Universal Badge Scanning mobile app.
Today we are trailblazing the In-Person GTM category and providing event tech solutions to over 2.5M users across 150 different countries.
